Summer in Oregon... 2013

Another great summer 2013 question answered and very generally I might add but... my idea of fun is having someone gently guide me in the right direction and then letting me have it!!!  Enjoy!

We plan on coming out to Oregon next June or July for one week. Please give us some ideas on what seasonal events or activities we may include in our itinerary while there. We plan on being in Portland and the Willamette Valley!

I am an AskOR expert and I would love to give you some ideas on how to spend your time in Oregon this summer!  There are many events going on all summer long throughout Oregon so I would def keep www.traveloregon.com on your bookmarks and check them out often!  Feel free to follow them on Facebook as well:  http://www.facebook.com/TravelOregon

If you are interested in Portland in particular, their Facebook page is also worth following:  http://www.facebook.com/travelportland

A few links to hook you up with activities in the Willamette Valley:

One of my most fav things to do in the Willamette Valley beside wine tasting, is hiking!  There are hundreds of hiking trails all over the valley.  Check out a few of the places I love to go:

Also, one of my favorite wineries is Left Coast Cellars:  http://leftcoastcellars.com  They happen to not only have great wines, they sell their own honey and have a great little cafe on site as well.  We just found out they have this great hiking trail as well.  It takes you right from the tasting room and patio out on to the hillsides where you can stroll through vineyards and hills covered in indigenous foliage.  I am so looking forward to doing this in the spring.  Be sure to take your camera if you go.  Just the driveway along from 99W on up to the tasting room is just breathtaking!

I have included this one link as well:  http://www.oregonwinecountry.org/whats/  It may be another good place for events 2013 in Wine Country/Willamette Valley.

Now let's talk Portland... my home away from home and here I sit at this very moment thinking of my last few days here and watching it snow out my window.  Simply gorgeous!  Please check out my Facebook page at:  http://www.facebook.com/OregonBliss  You will find that I enjoy photographing just about everything I do here in Oregon and most recently, Portland!  You can find more stories and ideas for travel and sight seeing at:  www.whitebreadandjam.blogspot.com

There are so many events that occur in Portland all summer long that I highly suggest you peruse these websites and find some things that appeal to what you love.  One way to see the city if you've never been is via Portland Walking Tours:  http://www.portlandwalkingtours.com  I have been on several of these tours and really learn something every single times not to mention, the Epicurean Walking Tour is the best way to find the best food in Portland!!  Been on that one twice!  One more link:  http://www.travelportland.com/things-to-see-and-do

Please make time to see our Rose Test Garden, The Japanese Garden and our Portland Zoo where we just had a 300lb. baby elephant named Lily born just a few weeks ago.

I hope this is a good beginning to your planning and please let me know if I can help you further with more detailed info on anything from itineraries to dining and lodging.  I do get around and love to share my info and experiences!

Thanks,

Debbie Lusk
